Scientists say the Earth is still ringing from the huge Indian Ocean earthquake. I thought I felt something.

Extinct sounds: a slammed phone, rotary dial sound, pop-up flash bulbs, gurgle of coffee percolators, projector clatter, typewriters, airplane propellers, car door slams from the 1960s, which were more metallic, rather than rubberized. Sounds are like smells, they can transport the listener to another time and place. Until the late 1800s the predominant sounds people heard were from nature. In 1948 Moses Asch Of folkways records immortalized “anything that is sound”.

Magnitude 7 earthquake hits Haiti. Strongest in 200 years.

I was listening to Tom Ashbrook and someone had called in apoplectic about missing intelligence clues in the attempted terrorist attack...This is a perfect example of how narratives get shaped over time, through rumor and conjecture. It’s just like voice recognition, sometimes it understands you, and sometimes it just makes it up, and what gets written is what everybody believes. This is how history gets made.  

[1/12/2025: AI continually hallucinates and that content is getting woven into history because it's being published on the internet and social media, and even in published books. Within 20 years we'll be relying on hallucinated "facts". I've noticed that in my own LLMs, its answers are different every time and it makes things up. This is how history gets made up].

At studio with Neone, Ox, and Jon. Ox handed me what apparently was my guitar, another thing I forgot was mine. They started to play the Tithonus songs and I remembered them, strangely. The music seemed both strange and familiar, like music I had never heard before, but I was playing it like I had known it my entire life.
