(Beatles Recording Sessions)

"A massive out-pouring of Beatles recordings: 30 in one double set. This was what the Beatles wanted, and they were in charge. But George Martin probably wished that he still held the upper hand. "With the 'White Album' they'd come back from India with 32 songs and they wanted to record every one of them. I listened to them all and there were some which I didn't think were that great. But a split had already taken place and they were wanting to do their own things, so the whole of the album, because there was so much to do, became fragmented, with two, sometimes three studios in use at any one time. I almost became Executive Producer, running from one studio to another and handling one particular thing while the Beatles and Chris Thomas got on with other things."

Book: From Bauhaus to our House, picture windows were just empty gestures, "a North Dallas special, "lawyer foyers", south Bronx ranch houses, low rise/high density, new urbanist architectural typologies, "allergies to history" (ornament), balastrods create transition between the sky and the building, anthropomorphic tripartite approach to architecture (base, middle, top), "sonata form", modular materials force design, big box stores are essentially 'machine buildings' (like a Coke machine), they don't have a long design life and will be salvaged, new brick cladding construction (appliqué), harlequin brick (confetti), function creates the form.

An augur of another COVID outbreak?

I like AI methods as a randomness generator from which I can take "snapshots" and work with those. I would get bored with the automatized generation of art all the time.

[11/22/2024: This works with music as well. As much as I’m bemused about how AI can interpret words in a musical framework, I haven’t lost my desire or passion for writing songs with an instrument–just as I still now prefer looking at art in museums and galleries].
