Wittgenstein: Spends night in Tarnobrzeg. Commander is arrogant and unfriendly.

On the way to work someone stopped and asked, “Where is the Sears Tower?” I thought this was ironic: it’s the tallest building in Chicago. (The lesson: the biggest isn’t always the most visible. Depending on where you are, lots of smaller objects can obscure one large prominent one).

[10/24/2024: The intersection of two idioms: “The elephant in the room”, and “Don’t think of an elephant”. Most of our lives are centered around “small objects”, but the “large objects” are always looming, and can be nearby (elephants in the room), and pushed to the background so as to forget them (don’t think of an elephant). But this was almost 20 years ago, and pre-smartphone. Now there’s no need for friendly in-person interaction.]

Studio: Who You Are remix of “Omens On My Side”. Voice is of Elisis Livingston of the Shambala retreat in Glastonbury. She was a subject in the documentary by Richard Dawkins titled ‘Enemies of Reason (Part 2)’ Remix to feature her voice. It is more of a parody than a tribute to her spiritual vision, but there is a certain power in her voice in context with the music, and I like how one affects the other.

This was also used in a Photographs For Music video as well. (It is essentially one of the CONTINUA-TIONS]

Patti Smith’s book: Photo with Christopher Maria Schlingensief in Venice at the home of Marco Polo. “He was a life force, and artist, activist, director, and filmmaker. Of his death shortly before his 50th birthday, Elfriede Jelinek wrote, “I always thought someone like him cannot die. It is as if life itself had died.”

Ahead of the release of his never-before-heard audio interviews with former President Donald Trump, Watergate journalist Bob Woodward wrote that after listening to the unreleased tapes again, he concluded that Trump was an “unparalleled danger” rather than just the “wrong man” to be president.

There's lots of "impostering" going on (as if I was somehow unaware), but I am in fact unaware how bonkers the world has gotten just in the last 6 months. Again I was watching a YouTube video of what appeared to be a speech by Oprah, A Woman With No Friends, but I don't think she ever gave such a speech. When I attempted to locate a transcript of the speech I couldn't find it, only to find many channels with videos made with that text used as captions (Motivation Mindset, Motivate Mix, Success Achiever, Speak Your Journey, even "Oprah Winfrey Podcast", which calls it a "mystery speech").
