Re: “Innovation Garages”: What communities need are centers that provide artists, inventors and entrepreneurs studio or lab space to develop their ideas. Vacant big-box stores are perfect for this. They can be segmented into separate work bays (cubicles) around the perimeter, with a communal space in the center. Essentially it would be a Skunkworks.

[12/18/2024: The idea of “tinkering” was a big thing back then and has mostly faded out. It’s amazing to see the decline in interest in this kind of thing. The new tinkering is all AI now. What will be the new tinkering in 2040?]
