October Dynaxiom Replays
0831. Viruses love people and governments that are unserious about public health. (10/2014)
0825. Perhaps the reason music is less interesting is that people have abandoned it for other things, and as a result there's no veneration of craft. Music might be in a 'sour grapes' phase. (10/2014)
0819. Climate change has always straddled the boundary between the chiasmus, 'Don't just stand there, do something' and 'Don't do something, just stand there'. Adaptation is seen as the solution but it's still the same paradox: Don't just adapt, do something' and 'Don't just do something, just adapt'. 'Don't ask what your planet can do for you; ask what you can do for your planet' could be a solution, but the paradox remains. It should work like making art: 'Do something-anything and see where it leads'. (10/2014)
0817. We have become a society based on opinions, a kind of persistent tinnitus that drives us crazy if we tune into it too much. We need a more 'peaceful' kind of information. (10/2014)
0450. On politics and music: you have to be careful of public backlash when you address foreign policy issues. Sometimes when musicians make anti-war statements it can sound crass and naive. If a musician is going to stand on a soapbox, it has to be done right—which means doing all the research to substantiate the rant. (10/2005)
0447. Terrorism is like a cell phone number. It's not connected to one physical place. It can be anywhere. (10/2001)
